The Snow of February

Contributed by Alexa_Bachtel on Saturday, 26th December 2009 @ 06:14:47 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

It's started as it usually happens,
The boy in girl, so sucka for love,
Kisses in a cheek and naive promises,
He was sayin' "I'll call ya later",
She was answerin' "I can hardly wait"
The naivety is not defect, is it?

She was stayin' awake without his call,
As she thought she'd die without his voice,
She was cryin' on the quiet,
Hidin' the tears from her friends,
She's got asked what was goin' on
But she was makin' excuses,
Thinkin' that no one will understand.
She's got no one else to reveal
Cos he was the one she could show her tears.

Life from call to call,
From date to date,
To get lost in his arms again
And feel really loved
From one sleepless night to another,
With hope that the snow of February
Will open the shelter for her
Inside his heart.

He was leavin' without any memory of her
Got filled the next page of his love victories
He was tellin' to his boys that she's history
And he's never thought she meant the world,
Because it was another game for him,
In which he considered himself as the winner,
He wasn't care if someone couldn't sleep at nights,
Countin' down the seconds till his next call
He wasn't care if someone repeated his name as prayer,
Yup, he'd have been a good boy, if he wasn't such jerk.

Life from call to call,
From date to date,
To get lost in his arms again
And feel really loved
From one sleepless night to another,
With hope that the snow of February
Will open the shelter for her
Inside his heart.

Another night with him in the motel's room,
They were makin' out up on the bed
And suddenly she's asked him if he loves her,
He was restive without knowin' what to say as excuse,
So he said the sex was the only thing that tied 'em
It would be betta if he didn't say these words,
Why can't the guys lie, when it's necessary?
She told 'em to get out, he didn't keep 'em wait...
First she didn't know what she should do with her,
But the answer's come quickly: the dirty syringe rollin' in a corner,
Deep breath, one injection of oxygen in her vein and then she's gone...

The people who ever knew this girl
Was makin' wonder how could this happen,
And only one guy could give the answer
The one that became her involuntary murderer.
He could tell that...

She was livin' from call to call
From date to date,
To get lost in his arms again,
From one sleepless night to another,
With hope that the snow of February
Will open the shelter for her
Inside his heart...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
