A horse stood on a mountaintop looking down below,
Looking at the raging wars,
The bloodshed, the noise.
The horse sniffed the battle-infested air,
His ears stood straight and rigid, danger!
A stalking hunter, he warned his herd,
Away they sped faster than light.
He reached safety,
Even though battle was here.
He saw horses straining under cruel whips, horses being beaten
He saw his fellow animals being mistreated.
An arrow was launched in the air and landed on the stallion through the heart,
He was dead.
His glorious hoofs flashed in defiance only to feel the sharp pain in his heart,
He was dazed, he struggled then gave up.
He felt a flash of light as his soul was rising up in heaven,
He was happy, war was behind him.
