In the dark I lay
Watching the pictures that go through my mind
Listening to the distant chirping of crickets
Tasting the sweet mid summers air through my open window
Then comes a noise
A noise so chilling, so frightning
It chills me to the bone
I turn on the lights and sit up, scared to death
No sooner did I do that, when i heard someone downstairs
I slowly walk down the stairs and into the kitchen
I look around to find that there's no one there
So i go back to bed
Never hearing the noise again
But never turning the light off either

I like how the poem reads. Peace turns to panic in a heartbeat. Nice. |
