I Come Up Short

Topic: AngryPoetry

I come up short.
Upstarts and fires rage inside
I lie by the wayside
Lies fly from the lips like snowdrifts

Dose me up and break me down
Pound for pound, it’s all relative
Thrusts, no trust. Hush, hush.

Crying out for something
Nothing fits
Take a number and stand in
Hope to matter

I have no talent
Youth is fleeting and beauty is illusion
Latent to rest is my fragmented knowledge
Barren is my life

I have never felt the light you call love
I have never felt the spell bind me to another
Misfortune has wrecked me but love never put me back together
Mend me and bend me to fit

I promise I’ll make you happy
Glad you will be to fix me
Mix up the pieces to make sense of this muted stupor
Fired and burnt its time to live without it

The bar is raised too high
Overripe and wasted on the vine
Time tested, I come up short.

Okay, you kicked ass with the use of "lie" and "lies" I must say. Here is a seriously stupid question Toxi, do you sing. This poem isn't a poem at all. Its a song. I feel it is. Sing through it. Its a song. I won't put any kind of "it sounds like..." sort of stamp on it because its so intrinsically you its not even funny. I just wonder and its one of those questions I've never asked of you. So I guess my question is; do you sing because these beg to be sung.

Note: I can only imagine what people think of my comments. They have to be horrified by my brute force nature...

Your brute force nature and the fact that you only comment on my "work."

I do sing. But never to anyone. You're right, most of my "poetry" starts as songs, and I don't post everything on here. But, by no means am I a good singer.

I feel like most of the things I wrote and posted on this site really detail a look inside me. I'm not fluffy and cute on the inside; I'm jaded and dark sometimes. I feel like this is a place that I can be that dark side without consequences.

Thank you.

Its not a bad thing that you're dark and brooding inside. Its boring when someone's all cutesy and fluffy on the inside. They don't have anything to them. They're essentially empty, hallow and vacant [I guess those are all the same thing aren't they]. I know far too many that don't have anything inside them,

How do you know if you're a good singer or not unless you let people hear you? BTW, 99.9999% of the time its not how good of a singer a person is but the meaning and emotions behind the singing that makes a singer. I'd love to hear you sing but, I understand the not wanting too.
