A New Forest

I was blind
They ate of me
For they are too blind and hungry
I provided the plate and platter in drunkenness
They and I
Together feasting on me
On each other
In illusion
In delusion
Till there was nothing but scraps left
Left of my minds hearts soul
Nothing left of well nutrition
No good food for the happiness of our soul
But for the grace of hope
But for the grace of yearning
Came the strength
To plant and water
New forests of goodness
That not only are in abundance
But can feed and clothe
Even those who would strip me bare to the bone before
A new forest so large
It can house and shelter those who would rob my house before
Leaving me desolate
But now, with the planting, watering, tendering
My forest is bigger, better, and can grow and grow
To feed everyone for the ages to come
