selfstruggles

I'm no stranger to the wilderness
The all consuming loneliness
In which we find we cannot stand
The turmoil of this life's demand
That we should walk into the dark
With nothing to follow except our hearts
That our souls be kept upon our sleeves
For us to bear and all to see
That when the world starts caving in
We stand the quake to truly win
That when we find we've lost our way
We smile and stride towards brighter days
But without direction to find the end
We fail to find our ways again
Lost in the mortal coil's grasp
We dive right in and don't look back
Pleasure we seek, never to find
Leaves us running through this forest blind
We take every turn, not watching our steps
Angry to find we've run out of breath
Throwing on masks to tune out the pain
Deafened and blinded by reality's reign
Afraid that our wrongs might be our demise
Still we continue to live the same lives
Never to take a path through the trees
That might lead us to all that we aim to be
Yet, still running blind, what could it hurt
To take that one route still covered in dirt?

I like it. Sometimes even when we want more than anything just to change, we can't. Then, when you finally break away you have to keep fighting and creating a path through the wilderness. |
