selfstruggles

Is this it?
Is this what I must learn to deal with?
I never thought
That my world could come to this halt
I’ve been told ever since I was little
Even when I get old
I can make my dreams come true
I don’t know if that is right
My dreams have yet to take flight.
Is this all?
Is this all I have left in my heart?
You have taken away the biggest part
Of my soul,
My being, my hope, my world,
And my control.
I have to be strong and stand tall
From the first moment that’s what I’ve been.
But I have changed a lot since then.
What I’d give to return to that hope that I had gathered
And to think I believed that I had a fighting chance
Is this me?
Is this the way my life shall be lived?
Wondering if my dreams have just slipped away?
But for today
All I can really do is get on my knees and pray
But don’t you know how you’ve hurt me?
Now I will never see
My dreams become reality.
So for now
I wait
Patiently.

A realization that we know little of our selves and that even more importantly, we are different though ages and trauma or event. Very thoughtful.
I would add that knowing oneself isn/'/t easy.
And perhaps you should stop waiting.
