war

The first shot rang out across the land
The bitter air chilled our blood
Brothers together lying in the mud
This shall be out final stand
I raise my arms filled with lead
Take aim on fellow man
The first one fell on his own land
Gone now to his final bed
This one I saw behind his eyes
His wife and children and friends
He served bravely making all amends
For his country he died
The first was taken by my hand
Rivers of crimson flowed
His eyes were glazed and his breath slowed
He gave no final demand
He was the first of many to fall
They bled the soil with their pride
Their courage and confidence they did not hide
They answered their nations call
They are my enemy on this field
The battle rages strong
To the same family we all belong
Behind the human shield
I killed the first and many more
I took them from this earth
I sent the on to another birth
This is the plight of war
I shall not return to fight
But have I committed a crime
For I was the first this time
I gave my own life tonight

I could see the battlefield as i read this.
Take care
I shall not return to fight
But have I committed a crime
For I was the first this time
I gave my own life tonight |
