  Social

becoming the moon.

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Friday, 11th December 2009 @ 08:23:22 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

it is dark, and raining softly.

i look into the mirror
reminding myself once again that
beauty does not exist there, but
the mirror is kind today

and lies sweetly.

it is dark, and i am wanting you.

as i often do but never admit,
i want to swallow you whole, sometimes;
in moments like this when the
moon is hidden but i know
she is thin and lustreless behind clouds,

yet i love her - -

in this moment where i am most fragile,
wielding but flesh and dagger,
pale in this darkness that does not breathe with your voice,

your very quiet love,
your white hands that i mistake for god or father

- in innocence, in innocence

and would you love me even now
as i am -
raw-boned, jagged,
my blood spreading like so many sleeping flowers,
my skin split open and screaming

you , you , you , you

delighted,
i prepare myself for the final silence
hoping that you will love me
as i loved the moon.

This poem took me to so many places...deep dark and frightening, for one and provoked some quite pondering thoughts. The moon, hmmm...in it's awesome beauty with the reflection from the sun is actually still a cold dark place...cold, airless, mysterious and scary. The analogy. Love it.

*applauds and read again*

Yet, I am sorry anyone has to deal with monsters... I am sorry that you have to.

Take care of you.

I wonder what it is that leads us to identify with the moon. Strange how it can be so comforting just to see it.

You always take the mind and heart with you in each of your writes. I am lost within this verse once more. Intense and rich in emotion and feeling sweety.

Hugs you tight and tighter

Michelle

Your words remind me of things from my own
life...the last stanza most of all. You have an intensity unmatched by any other poet I've read on this site. You never fail to pull me right into the raw emotion. Always inspired by you. truly , D

Your words pull me along and I remember mirrors (that I, myself have abandoned)
"the mirror is kind today

and lies sweetly."

I almost rushed to peer into my own dark glass...
