The Song You Silenced

Contributed by wordpoet on Saturday, 5th April 2003 @ 03:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Do you hear the whispers in the air and the secrets that they tell,
Can you feel the motions of my heart, trapped within this shell,
Do you know things I say to you, when I know you’re not around,
And the way I show the things I say without a single sound.

Do you know the things I give to you, in ways that do not show,
As I watch in vain your feelings, that for me will never grow.
Can you feel the veins of sorrow that have opened on my face,
For the beauty that you are and this life you’ll never grace.

But this song you’ve silenced still lives on, an echo in my soul,
And sings of love that knows no bounds, damned to bitter woe.
Now I cling to heartache like a friend, it’s all I have of you,
While this unrequited love remains, in a hope I can’t undo.

Great poem! This is sad and so many people can relate to it. I pray that one day you may find the one who won't silence your songs any longer.

Doug ... I cried as I read this poem ... you have written it with such feeling ... if only words like these could reach inside someone's heart .. then the world would be at your feet. .. Jan
