not so very long ago
my besotted heart knew a love so fair
as is my wont, i wasted this treasure
i buried her last night
deep in the drops of alcoholic soil
she slipped from my tenuous grasp
never to return to past glory and adoration
a decanted stere now marks her memory
i fought without success to be more
my recidivistic behavior ensured failure
why wanders lost in inebriated fog
a condition never meant for one nor two
without a shot being fired i lost the war
any dreams for us were officially executed
a battle for a mistress decided a bottle for mine
i guess i saluted her too many times
