~Sleigh Ride~

Contributed by shelby on Tuesday, 8th December 2009 @ 04:54:19 PM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

Upon arising the world sat silent
A winter wander land blanketed in dazzling crystal.
A handmade white scarf, dangled round her neck
The world full of glow the sky dancing with enchantment.

A country winter morn, wrapped up in homemade quilts
The wisps of wind crisp, filled with nip.
Then a whistle to the Clydesdale’s sleigh bells ring jing- a-ling
Sounds of laughter, then Christmas carols
Through the streets did ring.

Excited at the very moment, as the skies began to grey.
The winds began to howl as the flurry settled in
Turning the world translucent as large flakes blew around.
As we dashed off through the fields then passed down main street.
With Christmas lights all a glow, horses dancing on thunderous feet.
Soon our Sleigh ride was over, the magic ended much to soon.
Time for home made donuts and steaming hot coco to warm up chilled hands.

Now that was nice. Thank you for making me feel nostalgic. Reminded me of a time about twenty five years ago when a former girlfriend and me took a horse carriage ride around Chicago in the winter.

Thank you,

Tim
