Breakaway

Contributed by Alexa_Bachtel on Tuesday, 8th December 2009 @ 10:05:40 AM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

A small-town girl - that's who I was
And I used to think I'd be like this forever
Cos they've always told me I'd never be someone
And my definition's in the scrubbin' roasters
And waitin' for my husband to come from work.
They called me mediocrity, they called me fool
Once I blindly follow after what I wanted,
I've just seen that I gotta break the society
I gotta, I gotta breakthrough...

So here I am,
The one they used to tell
I'd never be,
I made a wishes one by one,
Dreamin' to be someone
They ain't see
I did it inspite of them
I've made a breakaway
Up is where my way leads me
And I can see it clearly now
All I need is just
To breakaway.

I used to do everything I could've done,
I was growin' up like a flower for awhile,
Warmin' with both the sunshine and love
Of the people who's always been by my side
Yeah, they're talkin', it stares me in the face
But my definition looks more clearly now than it did.
Yeah, I got ups and down, what'd I do without 'em?
But at least I can tell surely I've got what I wanted.

So here I am,
The one they used to tell
I'd never be,
I made a wishes one by one,
Dreamin' to be someone
They ain't see
I did it in spite of them
I've made a breakaway
Up is where my way leads me
And I can see it clearly now
All I need is just
To breakaway.

They've called me a fool
As I've followed after what I wanted
They've told you'd never breakthrough
But I made it, I made a breakaway...

So here I am,
The one they used to tell
I'd never be,
I made a wishes one by one,
Dreamin' to be someone
They ain't see
I did it in spite of them
I've made a breakaway
Up is where my way leads me
And I can see it clearly now
All I need is just
To breakaway.
Breakaway...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
