Take My Breath Away

Take My Breath Away

You came into my life on a warm summer’s day
Simple conversation shared in the usual way
As time passed the closer we grew
Then came the day that I completely knew

The almost daily discussions of ideas and thoughts
The open heartfelt discussions of battles we fought
The way my heart sprung to life on days we would speak
The awesome feeling that surges through me as you cause my knees to get weak

Still through all of the time that together we have shared
I still have times of insecurities and times when I am scared
I know this is new territory and we are learning as we go
Today I asked a question, because the answer I just had to know

I asked why three words that you have many times heard me tell
Could cause such silence each time without fail
I was not sure how I would take your reply
Would it make me soar or knock me from the sky?

You said the silence is because when said, the words take your breath away
I replied that you should be used to them and should not affect you so to this day
Then I thought about what I said and wanted to express from my heart today
That as long as we are together I hope I can “Take Your Breath Away”
