One Path

Contributed by Aspirant on Sunday, 6th December 2009 @ 12:14:15 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Ye nameless, faceless, strike me down
Should from thy holy path I stray
If even once I wear a frown
May both my flesh and bones decay

I feel a fire beckoning
To transcend mortal bounds
To become more than lord or king
This, in my heart, resounds

Yet this is only part of thee
My wish it cannot truly be
For only what ye show I see
And that is well enough for me.
___________________________

Great flaring flame turns dead as dust
When its light strikes my eye
My mind is lost in logic's trust
From it too free to fly

Satanic sorrow sweeps my soul
Despairing loss of summer rain
His venom throws me to the void
My body racked in endless pain

Here heroes burn and suffocate
In frozen darkness cruel
Their blades worn dull 'gainst walls of fate
Made Hope's eternal fools
___________________________

What force sustains these titans bold
That in the face of Hell won't fold?
Go now, stand thee beside them
and all the world behold.

I see the angels fighting the demons,
heaven against hell what a complex
and fantastical picture presented here.
we all know in our hearts those
who believe will be received.
