The tree becomes skeleton bones
Without leaves, despair overflows from their eyes.
The colorless pale body and
The rough skin, piety on them!
They’re the Sages of the Jungle
Going through the challenges of nature;
Calm and quite they’re
Paying the debts of nature
Without uttering a word
They endure all.
At one moment, the sound of leaves drifting
Along with the wind,
And the dreadful noise of the silence at the other
The helpless voice of the entire jungle
Pleading for just one thing –
Rain!

I like the imagery you have used in this poem ie skeleton bones and the way you have humanised the trees ie sages of the jungle. Then the strength of the trees to endure and yet as with all life frail in its dependency on certain elements to survive. |
