I Don't.

Contributed by EternitysLyre on Friday, 27th November 2009 @ 11:31:50 AM in AEST
Topic: ApologyPoetry

It Takes
Every last fiber in my body
Not to throw my arms around you
And pull you close.

It Takes
Every lingering, last resolve
To rid your smile, your laughter,
Your skin’s allure
From my thoughts
(For long)

And every dream, I dream of you
I forget it’s not the truth
Face first into other dreams, praying
Not to wake up crying.

And I can’t stop, trying
To make you happy

But I don’t love you.

Such a tangled web we weave for ourselves sometimes....
I love the candor of this poem,
"And I can’t stop, trying to make you happy But I don’t love you."
Why do we do this? I couldn't tell you if i'm honest!
Brilliant write x

I really enjoyed this. The tone is very sweet and sincere but you get to the last line and its as if someone slammed on the brakes.
Nice.
