I was on my knees again, for you, last night
Sending whispered prayers up to the heavens, wrapped in guilt
God must have ripped off the packaging with disdain
Spat down to the earth's soft soil in disgust
Don't you see, I love you now the way I loved you then
I have not been forged into some strong armed statue
I am flesh and you are flesh
Your name has been sent off, I'm telling you
I have begged on your behalf
It is not me, no, it couldn't have ever been me
You need a savior and I am flesh
I am flesh....wrapped in guilt
Spitting on the earth's soft soil in disgusted disdain
As I have grown to withered woman, pale and stark
You have grown to something that frightens me
Sends me shuddering into the cold confines of solitude
I can't look at you now, can't bear to stomach the sight
But in the quiet, once the prayers have ceased, I casually pine over this thought
Perhaps you haven't grown into something different, perhaps it was me the whole time
Blind, waiting for vision that would ache in the reality of your beast
Perhaps it was me
Kneeled for you when you should have been kneeled for you
I am flesh, only flesh, sobbing through the wounds of this guilt
And the bitterness, the beguiled soul rotting in the prayer position
For you, again....
