I WENT DOWN SOUTH, AND WAY OUT WEST,
A SEARCHIN FOR THE LORD.
I COVERED ALL THE EAST COAST,
I NEVER DID GET BOARD.
WENT UP NORTH A SEARCHIN,
THE GREAT LAKES AND THE BAYS.
FOUND HE WAS ALWAYS WITH ME ,
ALL ALONG THE WAY.
I FOUND HIM IN OLD NEW ORLEANS,
IN FACES OF THE GRIEVED.
I FOUND HIM IN WACOS TOWN, WHILE SITTING IN THE BREEZE.
FOUND HIM IN A SCHOOL YARD,
IN OLD BOSTON TOWN.
FOUND HIM HERE, FOUND HIM THERE,
I FOUND HIM ALL AROUND.
REFRAIN:
YOU CAN SEARCH AND YOU WILL FIND,
YOU ONLY HAVE TO START.
YOU NEED NOT SEARCH THE WHOLE WORLD ORE.
HE LIVES RIGHT IN YOUR HEART.
