Dream Sequence

(She exits building and walks through the parking lot to her car. She reaches her car, pulls out her keys, and unlocks it. As she opens the door she feels a set of eyes on her. She looks up and there he is. He is standing by his car parked next to hers. She is unable to speak as this is the moment she has been waiting for for years. As he makes his way towards her, she thinks: butterflies in her stomach, joy in her heart, a nervous smile on her face. He stops in front of her.)

He: I missed you.
(She say nothing, waiting for him to continue. He picks up on this so he does).

He: I have been so stupid. I'm in love you. I've always loved you, I just felt like I didn't deserve you and I wasn't ready. But I'm ready now and I know I do deserve you. We were meant for each other.

(She cries tears of joy. He wipes a tear under her right eye with his thumb. He pulls she towards him in an embrace and their lips envelop each other. After some time, he lets go gently).

He: Let's go. (He offers his arm. She takes it . He escorts she to his car. He opens the door for her. She gets in. He walks around to his side and gets in. He starts the engine and they drive off).

((Sound cue: BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP))

(She opens her eyes, realizing she is in bed and follows the beeping sound to her alarm clock that is sitting on her beside table that reads 7:00 am. She turns it off).

She(aside): It was just a dream. It always is.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
