Reflection

I sit here in reflection on things long since past
Wondering if done differently if certain things could last

I think of all I’ve lost and all I’ve gained
The burden is truly heavy, I'll never be the same

I’ve been broken and molded like a jar made of clay
Spinning round and round in game I never wanted to play

I remember the great times and cry over the bad
As the tears roll down I pray to no longer be sad

I'm searching for a smile that I know still posse
My heart needs relief and my soul longs for rest

When I close my eyes the happy visions that once were there
Have been replaced by darkness and nightmarish despair

I want to hold my head again high towards the sky
My spirit so injured, seems no longer able to fly

I know these feelings surely can't last forever
I must lay down this burden, my heart from this I must sever

So as I cry out to the heavens and fall to my knees
I beg to forgiveness and restoration is where this leads

I know I have wronged and hurt so many
I want a chance to help, desire I have plenty

So now it is time I wipe away the tears
stand up to begin what I should have all these years

I thank you for your kindness in my despair
You carried a burden that was so very unfair

I hope you accept my apology and grant me forgiveness
I'm standing by your side No more foolish business

I wouldn't still be here if not for how much you care
I promise I'm thankful and beside you I’ll always be there

I love you and so thankful you never gave up
Your patience is amazing to hang through no matter how rough

All I can say is I'm sorry and reach out my hand
Because of your love I now am a better man.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
