Cool, Calm, and Collected

Contributed by DanMWinters on Thursday, 19th November 2009 @ 11:22:53 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

There is a man who is calm and collected
He plays it cool, he is never affected
His discipline is boundless, without ends
Though rage may strike
He treats all alike
To emotion’s level, he never descends

This discipline cannot be learned
Through long, hard years it was slowly earned
Caused by people he hated with passion
In old days it would be let out
In his youth he’d scream and shout
And this would calm him, after a fashion

Over the years these emotions faded
His passion dimmed, he became more jaded
Until he could hardly himself, express
He’d let feelings fester and rot
Ignore girls he liked; say he didn’t have a shot
He honestly thought this was best

One day, maybe, something will trigger
The discipline will fight, but his needs will be bigger
He’ll find someone, somewhere, who he must have
Until that day, no one will know
Where his thoughts are, where his mind blows
He just sits there, unreadable, and occasionally laughs

Hi,

This is a fine write about cocooning oneself in a
hard shell - protected from the real world -
untouchable!

Yet .... sadly .... missing so much!

Well written.

Tommy

I agree its sad to be so shielded from the life of all others sometimes it finds you dont miss out on that sweet hello and smile, it might wind up to be the, one ,after awhile.
