As I lay here in my cold
damp pit of a foxhole
I listen to the sound of the shells
pound the ground all around me
I close my eyes as the moon rises
finding it odd how the sounds
that once scared me now somehow
seem to comfort me
I find myself praying
to here the shells
with the rising of the sun
for if I don't that means that
I am surely dead
