I cant sleep again
No medication to rhythmically rock me into artificial slumber
Sagging black bags rest on my eyelids
I am a patron saint of the throbbing temple
I pray by tossing and turning Burning in sweat
Cursing my self for burden of rough nights followed by
Rougher mornings
I wake up to the shrill laughter of my alarm clock
Bad ideas flow through rusty pipes and faulty wiring in my head
The lifelong length of rope im walking on has a half life
Cause I only half live
white light and cleansing pain carress the back of my eyes
as I pack salt into an open head
preserving the brain for a day I might need to use it
the humid scent of broken knuckles
almost the clicking of ruby heels
all I want is to go home
I ride my own sanity down 24 sleepless hours of yellow bricks
Sticking to my gut I hear the distant resonance of my own footsteps
I follow them to my bed
Except this time im not guided by ten milligram inhibiters
Cool as the other side of that pill
I sleep

Hi,
This is quite simply brilliant!
You make precise use of life's metaphors -
and you hit the subject matter right on the nail!!
I've been there, my friend.
Well done!

This was great and I have been an insomniac for years so I can relate. Great lines but I enjoyed this one the most.
