Choosing happiness

Contributed by pooja on Thursday, 5th November 2009 @ 11:48:47 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Too long have I tried to keep life from hurting me,
Finding that little hint of sadness in every ecstasy

But now I am feeling things again,
Not shying away from joy in the fear of pain

Still do not know how things will turn out,
But I know now that the future can never be free of doubts

Banking on my strengths I am moving beyond my uncertainties,
with tears and smiles I am absorbing life's melodies

The sun is on my skin and i dance in the rains,
Now I live, I shine , I breath again

Learning that fear is not the key, you need to let go,
If you wait till you know for sure, you'll never really know

No longer do i hesitate...wait till the break of dawn,
I look up at the thundering skies and say bring it on

Things are not always ok,some days have to be bad,
But I have a good life,I have no reason to be sad

I may not live to see tomorrow, there's no guarantee
So today I choose to be as happy as I can be !

Hi,

A fine write - full of optimism and hope - something
we should all try to adopt in today's climate of
wars, poverty, and economic downturn.

It really is that simple.

Refuse to bow down to life. Always face it standing straight and tall.

"Bring it on."

Exactly.

Well this is damn fine!! I especially love this

"But now I am feeling things again,
Not shying away from joy in the fear of pain"

Oh god YES!! How wonderful it is just to FEEL. And it is so great
to see you embracing life in this piece. There are so many days
it seems where hope is obscure and it is hard to go on, but you have
this lasting piece of encouragement right here in black and white
(so to speak). It could be your mantra! Hell, it could be MANY people's!

Well done!

~ Breezy

The reason this poem works so well is do to it's modesty it speaks with a humbling tone. I could hear the wisdom that is-Morgues
