With spark - I find voice among thunder
And rise as a beast to greet the dawn
Things frost made dormant are now thawed
And a crescendoing drum begins to pound
Winds bellow by me from all corners
They usher in air with a fragrance reborn
Now unimpaired by life that turned stale
I catch scent of something free and wild
With primal joy I thrust my bones upward
Drawing strength from an ancient conviction
Now green eyes gaping and plotting a course
I lift my head, take a deep breath and grin
As I thrash out a trail never before walked
I suddenly become aware what consumes me
A creature controlled by curiosity and vigor
A child on the cusp of unwrapping a toy
Now once aware I broke my chains
Forever carnal but at least not a slave
