Goodbye

Topic: anguished

I have written so many letters to you
So many of my poems
Came right from your soul
All these words over the years
That you will never hear
Not sure you ever cared to
Here I am once again
Writing for you
Wishing you heard
Pretending you care
So much you have done
Took me to the highest highs
So much you have done
Sent me crashing down
Never did I think
We would reach this day
Never did I think knowing you
Would be this painful
If I had ever thought
That the act of me being myself
Would drive you to act this way
I would have said goodbye years ago
I am so torn
Knowing to walk away is the logical step
But hating myself for doing so
Knowing it is against all that I am
To leave when I know
That you need someone to see you through
To leave when I feel
That it's one more time to throw in the towel
Closing the door on one more chapter
That I can't bear to read
Part of me wonders
If you do this on purpose
Because you don't want me
Reading that final page with you
Wonder if you think one or both of us
Will break beyond repair in that final hour
If walk away I shall
Perhaps I could
If only I knew
That your final pages would be brighter
For all I can ever ask
Is that your last mark on anyone's heart
Will be the memory of your smile
Or the look on your face
Totally in a moment of peace
Never would I want
For that last memory
To carry the pain that my heart will carry
Every time I recall
The way you looked at me that day
As you screamed those words
That will haunt my soul
For the remainder of time

Makes me wish I understood poetry better I can write it but half the time when I read it I get things mixed up.
If you have a problem, I'm here to talk about it if you want, I'd love to help as much as I can.

A friend always here
hope to read more soon

Kara,

this is really emotive. I hope you are ok.
It seems way to many goodbyes these days and not enough hello's. Sighhhhhhh.
Is this something new going on with you?
I can read several things into it........

Hugs
Michelle

Even your vents are poetic!
Writing about it helps I hope. A pressure valve for some temporary relief.
Why is the past so dam hard to let go? Are we all that afraid of the future?

Ouch.

Kara, this is so deeply painful in an almost I-can't-bear-to-read-it
kinda way. In answer to Jecks' question, I think yes, we ARE afraid
to face the future. But I don't get that emotion from your write. It
feels more like a need to face the future. To let go of all the pain
that continues to plague a heart. Excruciating write.
