I don’t have to wait till night
To see a star shine so bright
For, on the grass I see you there,
A lone white star that makes me stare
As, often I have seen you shine
Whether it rains or it is fine.
O simple, common white flower
I feel so cheerful from the power
Of your pure and natural charm
Which the world’s worries would disarm
If only people took the time
To pause and see you shine so fine.

I enjoyed the poem. I try to remind myself from time to time, that instead of wishing I were somewhere else, I need to look at what is right in front of me. I spent thirty years in the Navy, and visited 105 countries, and hundreds of different ports. In every port, I tried to find something to like about it, to find something beautiful. In life that can sometimes be very difficult, but on a bad day, a single daisy would make me smile for a moment. Thank you for the poem, it, like a daisy, brought a smile to my face. |
