World of Wonders

Contributed by poetrygal9 on Saturday, 24th October 2009 @ 01:56:18 PM in AEST
Topic: didactic

World of Wonders
It’s a world of wonders,
A world of cares,
A world of treachery,
And world of glares.

The birds in the air,
The song in the breeze,
The smog in the cities,
And the litter around trees.

The gleaming awards,
The way the trophies shine,
An old rusty bike,
And the sound of a mother’s cry.

We hear the bellows of all the rich people,
And we ignore the poor boy, who rings bells at a church steeple,
We’ll all agree at what the politics say,
But won’t hear a sound when the beggars pray.

The world is good, but we can make it better,
When we all hold hands and sing together,
When the weak are made strong,
When the hungry feast for long,
When we all love and are loved back,
When contentment and happiness we shall not lack.

It’s a world of wonders.

Exactly. We can make this world of wonders so much better, but only if we are prepared to.

I think we all need to do more than what we are doing. I mean, we all know about the sufferings of the poor, and we all believe that they should be helped. But how many of us are actually doing something to help them?
I feel most of us today just don't have the time for this.

Really enjoyed your poem.

Peace

Ammar

Thanks for your words of support! That's exactly what I was thinking as I wrote this poem, especially when I think of all the people around us who say pray to make a world into a better place, but that's all they do. We need to actually put our own words in action. Thanks again.
May you have a blessed day,
Chiru K.
