(This is all your fault
you did this to yourself)
the voices whispering and tugging at my mind
'cause I can't help it if I wanna feel safe inside
when everything is dark and gray
when I am sad, holding hands with empty promises
the coldness of you.

Powerful use of brackets at the start, that really worked. This was a very spontaneous write and you packed a lot of punch into 7 lines.

If we lose in the ol' game of life, we do seem to beat ourselves up, do we not? I suppose all we can do is plod on, eh? Uh, after we go into seclusion for a while.
Nicely done, my dear.
