Twisted Is Time Backwards

Contributed by poisonpoetry on Saturday, 17th October 2009 @ 07:34:58 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

They congregate in the cemetery, shedding tears of loss
a man begins to utter prayers while brandishing a cross

The coffin of a man is slowly lifted from the ground
then to the hearse it’s carried people standing all around

The hearse drives to the morgue where the coffin is removed
the body then gets kept there for at least a week or two

Soon the body’s taken from the morgue and driven to a house
a widow waits there crying ‘cause the body is her spouse

The man is laid there on the bed where later he comes to
his wife her tears diminish ‘cause it seems he’s made it through

The man still lays there ill and his wife says her goodbyes
but then the man gets better until he reaches 65

He has no clue what happened yesterday but tomorrow that he knows
he leaves his pension and goes to work for 40 years or so

The man and wife have a break then make their way to church
they remove the rings from fingers but it’s joy it doesn’t hurt

They leave without a marriage certificate and go their separate ways
then the man goes home to parents and this is where he stays

He goes to school for several years forgetting all he knows
each year that passes by he’s needing smaller smaller clothes

He loses his ability to walk and talk and eat
by now he’s just a baby so innocent and sweet

He goes into a hospital where his mother lays there screaming
legs spread wide she sucks him up the father stood there gleaming

Sometimes we wish that we could turn back time as if we’re gifted
but if this time went backwards well backwards time is twisted

This was so very clever. Interesting twist and it is quite inspiring.
You have captured the absurdity of going backwards with a
talented flare.

Great post

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
