War On Religion

Contributed by poisonpoetry on Friday, 16th October 2009 @ 04:33:14 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Good people do good, the evil do bad
for good to do evil takes religion, that's sad
The wars between nations and confrontations
the pain and suffering and deprivation
It nearly all stems from religious beliefs
they're taking our freedom and money like thiefs

Science has proven our evolution
religion has brainwashed the masses like pollution
I understand needing something to believe in
so believe in yourself, not other peoples preaching

From God to Allah and Jesus to Mary
maybe they lie ‘cause the truth is too scary
If heaven exists it doesn't prevail
hell has us locked in this life like a jail

We're seeking the truth but it's hidden from view
like the fruit that we want is forbidden to chew
Dictators dictate and the government too
they set out in stone what we can and can't do

So open your eyes and spread your wings
and open your heart and see what it brings
There’s more to this life than the things you've been told
discover yourself and break free from the mould

I am glad to be first to comment on this.
I don't know how old you are, or what religion you believe in
I am a Muslim, I don't agree with what you write but I love the way you write
" they take our money and freedom like thief," very powerful line,
i love it
I hope you work things out with yourself and realize where you belong, because even if you think you don't belong or chose to be with any of those religions, I think we all need something to get guidance from, don't we?

Well it is an interesting poser. I don't think there's anything wrong with the scriptures of the major religions necessarily, only the people who interpret it for their own means. Islam, for example, gave women the most rights they ever had in the ancient world (far earlier than christian europe) but now the real intentions of mohammed have been totally warped by idiots, thus women are powerless in many muslim countries around the world. There's nothing inherantly wrong with christianity either, just the people that turn it into something that it isn't. I think it's good to be spiritual, and indeed not being so can make you dull and souless. You just need to choose the best spirtual path for you I think.
