I was out late one night walking home to bed
a lamp to light the way but careful where to tread
cos along this road
many a year ago
a young woman was heard to sigh
abandoned by her love and left alone to cry
That night together they had been to a dance
neglected for another woman
now dying for romance
standing alone soft music in her ear
she gently dabbed here eye to hide her saddened tear
It was on this road dumped by the carriage
broken hearted
no fairytale marriage
she knew she would never hear the heavenly choir sing
or look to her finger and see a diamond ring
she left the world to be with the heavenly orchid clouds
a gentle soul still holding her deepest, honest vowels
I hope wherever she is and one day I get a chance
Oh to be in heaven
and watch a beautiful angel dance.
