I remember the day that we both felt weightless
You smiled at me and said, 'Nothing could ever change this.'
I would make constellations with every freckle of your eyes
They were far more beautiful than any found in the sky
That summer was the best of any I have ever spent since
I would love to spend it again, if even only in a glimpse
And to this day I wonder, was it ever really so?
I held on to you so tight, but still I saw you go
We were both so young, I think that is what I miss most
Our options wide open, but each other we still chose
You would hold me in your arms like the last grain of sand
Nothing could ever touch me, in front of me you would stand
We both had reached for what we each so much longed
But together we grasped, because together we were strong
I would love to someday feel that way again
The feeling of seeing the world in plain view
Being able to see everything in perfect sense
All because I was with you
You had touched me in ways that I have yet to touch myself
I cannot honestly say that about anyone else
It has been nearly five years to the day, and I still miss you seeing me
We have locked eyes since, but only through me do you see
They say time heals all wounds, although I do not find this so
Some remain forever open, although they may not show
