weak willed

Lying awake hours upon days
having his parents tell them their ashamed
always falling so short of their high expectations
and he knows he’s got no explanation
sitting there sulking about the lamentation
of the deaths of his dreams and future occupations
knowing they’re gone, knowing he ***** up
but now he’s got to pick himself back up
cant stop now never stop fighting
but first things first, kids gotta stop lighting
up all those blunts everyday after school
and no he doesn’t do it just to be cool
all it does is push aside the reality
that if he doesn’t start to try it’s his own fatality

there is a constant battle inside of his head
and sometimes he just wants it all to end
maybe with a bullet, a ripping tearing piece of lead
a potential death is just around the bend
he’s got nothing he can call his own, he’s all alone
and all this time he’s done nothing but shown
that he’s a weak minded fool, stuck in the high
contemplating whether or not to say good-bye
no, not yet he can’t go through with suicide
but maybe he’ll get lucky and god will decide
today is his day, he got his chance and he blew it
too weak and depressed smoking weed to get through it
now it’s different, he’s beginning to realize
that this life he is leading is false, a fat lie
he knows he’s on the wrong path to take
waking every morning only thinking to bake
***** all that he’s got to get straight
even though everyone around him tells him it’s too late

but he wont give up now, he knows what he must do
he’s gonna put the blunt down, this time is true
too much was lost too much was thrown away
and now he’s all grown up what a ******* shame
for too long a time he was stuck in this place
all the work he did was all just a waste

time is up now everything is over
he needs some luck, comes across a 4 leaf clover
his luck has changed now there is hope
now his biggest problem is staying away from the dope

the deal with his parents, they’ve reestablished communication
he got home and showed them his job application
now he’s confident he won’t end up on the street
he’s cleaned himself up and now is on his feet
everything is great he’s working day to day
at the end of the week collecting his pay
having money not buying weed but having real fun
and now his parents can say they are proud of their son

the bad part is, is that they spoke too soon
cause a few months later he picked up some shrooms
decided to blaze and fell back into the cypher
got in his car thinking he’s a good driver
too bad his stupid friends wouldn’t stop him
cause now he lies quietly, forever in a coffin

This definitely sounds like a poem to me. And a very good one. Poetry is about expressing deep emotions. So continue shining poet!
