I look and I see
And I wonder with glee
Will this happiness
Stick with me?
An emotion lost
So long ago
Is a companion now of old
I look through renewed eyes
And wonder of the wasted years
Of a gloomy past
I focus on what will be
As this happiness seeks me
My companion and my friend
Never to be lost again.

I like this and I think not only because it flows so easily, I like the statement of devotion to a friend. Good real friends are rare and hard to find. Apparently you fall into the rare group.
Take care and thank you for an enjoyable read.
