Just Fine

Topic: goodbyepoetry

When we decided to go our separate ways
I was so upset, I cried
Stating that it didn’t bother me, foolishly I lied

My feelings for you still remained
But I sealed my emotions, keeping my words contained

Growing jealous of the past and resenting the future to be
Because now I have to live a life without you beside me

Every morning waking up to see your face
Now resting my hand in an empty space

Where your body once laid
Flashing scenes where the love we made
Slowly fading away
The exotic roles we played
Are now only memories

Impossible to forget with you still trying to call
Acting like you have any type of affection for me at all

Why don’t you just leave me alone, can’t you just leave me be
You believed your life would be so much better without me

So now another I am searching to find
Taking my first step, receiving my first sign
That in time
I will be just fine

Well written. It reminds me of the emotions one go thru when ending a relationship. The sadness, the constant memories playing over and over. There is hope at the end of the poem that despite the suffering, you remain strong knowing it will get better.
