Apprehension, to a young man or women
Is evident, as a younger brother is abused,
Like road kill walking into oncoming traffic.
Apprehension, occurs in a dark alley,
When your best friend is shot,
And all you want is to hear their voice again.
Apprehension passes through my mind,
As I see a homeless man begging,
And praying to survive through the week.
Apprehension, embraces my heart,
As I see a lovely little child
Sheltered, hugged, and kissed by her mommy.
Apprehension, circulates my hopes, and ambition,
When I hear about a 25 year old man,
Whose an alcoholic, and lives with his mother.
Apprehension, runs through my veins,
Like python venom injected in my arm,
As a teenager turns to drug addiction for a solution.
Apprehension, replaces the blood in my body,
As a couple in true love, wake up to sunrise
On top of the hillcrest shaped like a heart.
Apprehension, escalates above my tsunami of hope,
As a father’s first child has been given birth,
And the dad goes for a walk just to cry tears of joy.
Apprehension, happens at the thought
Of a family at Christmas dinner
Laughing, talking, and conversing about each other’s lives.
Apprehension fills my path of destiny,
When all I strive for is future success,
Like every other teenager throughout the world.
