The Little Bird

Contributed by jessb3 on Thursday, 24th September 2009 @ 01:39:11 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I sat down on the window seat
My face close to the glass
I calmly watched the world outside
And all that came to pass

I soon turned my attention
To a bird up in the sky
His little feathers black as night
This fellow was not shy

Twas like he sensed my watching him
For he kept up until
He deftly flew towards my seat
And perched upon the sill

He stared at me with beady eye
And I stared back at him
Until he cocked his little head
And flew off on a whim

He flit, he flew, he ducked, he weaved!
The show seemed just for me!
He put a smile upon my face
And filled my heart with glee

The little bird continued on
But soon flew right away
And so I thanked him silently
For brightening up my day

Hi Kathy,

It's the little things that prove to us why we love
life. I loved it - a chirpy little poem to start off my
day. Well written!

Tommy

Brilliant!! A happy little ditty that also put a smile on my face. Makes a nice refreshing change reading something light and happy instead of all the deep and morose ones that some folks consistently write. Well done yet again Jess.
Regards, John.

A very nice poem.
It reminds me of a happy version of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven". Was that the inspiration?
