Your fault

Contributed by hungarianhaze on Tuesday, 22nd September 2009 @ 08:56:33 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Mom and dad my secret hero's
I seek your celestial to make you proud
Mom, the nurture in my soul
Dad, the wisdom of you so bold
I fear your voice a thick shadow
The voice consumes my thrill
A dungeon hovers over my sky
No more bright sun
my life is condemned from fun
A holocaust of my innocents
The shadow was you..

Memories cake on the pain
And you point your finger and blame
It's not your fault
you don't know whats at stake
What i thought was this, turned inside out
my mind imploded , left in self doubt
the shadow was you

Your words lay my grey foundation
You twist your words to twist my conception
Mom and dad this isn't right

How can i grow?
How can i grow?
You lied about manhood
Leave me alone , from your false might
mom and dad this isn't right

I wont let you in i can lock you out
I will grow , from your shadow
Its my turn
to not inherit what you made me earn

I wake up to my children's smile
I know you and your shadow i left
I left with out denial

Very heavy going poem. "Growing from shadow" describes such a situation perfectly. It genuinely feels relieving in the last few lines to see you were able to be grow from the shadow.
