Seen and Not Heard

Not long ago
My love had a name
You sent me away
And extinguished the flame
Those once sparkling eyes
Became a blank stare
Soulless, lifeless,
Seeming without care
You're young, and lost,
But brimming with life
Just hear me out please
And avoid all the strife
You can be free
You have your own mind
That I respect
To all and in kind
To love is to help
And to help is to love
Don't turn your back
Don't feel you're above
You taught me a lot
Of what love is
And is not;
For me,
Love is a word
That should be seen,
And not heard
