A Common Legend

Blue watered by plentiful creeks,
in the land of the valiant greeks.
there lived a lady of eternal grace,
conquered only by her radiant face,
the daughter of a high iron chief,
the envy of a fresh pine leaf.
Once walking through the endless silk arcades,
wearing glittering hypnotic brocades,
her dainty foot tripped over an insolent twig,
into a lad with a handsome well built swig.
a face so gentle, the eyes so blue,
it seemed a dream to be true.
but truth is always bitter and knave,
he was called the head slave.
the words dried,the hearts tight,
they fell in love at first sight.
Her sapphire eyes,his innocent gaze,
the nature swooned into a deadly daze.
as they drowned deep into the bottomless bay,
delicate flowers blossomed along their way.
as to anger, glare and cruel stare,
they don't even ever seem to care.
the caste and creed mushroomed their loom,
their love was all set to doom.
the swordsman despised his rich booty,
but finished his ugly duty.
As time passed by in incessant rains,
history uncovered itself in towering cranes.
the ancient treasures got conquered in lots,
to create lucrative,rich tourist spots.
while the eyes cried themselves to red,
the guide earned his bread.

A lovely write...It's a shame that something of beauty was reduced to a tourist attraction |
