A tribunal debating a better award sends a request to the
Mindless commanding generals who are
Increasing the amounts of casualties, but you should
Never turn the public against a war because someone has to pay for the
Undemanding minions in white overalls who take
Twenty years to buy a ship and then
Each day they bury a document along with the dead.
Sad is the dereliction of duty.
So here we have a damning condemnation of
Incompetence left to its own devices.
Less than fair are the explanations to soldiers and their families.
Elitism is vital to our security.
Numbers on the gravestones of the boys and girls who served
Can still hit hard with our hands tied behind their backs.
Eventually you ask “How can it be”?
Lions led by donkeys,
Another funeral takes place,
Severance gives further weight to criticism,
Twenty years to buy a tank.
Still they guard their vested interests .
Forever rising casualty lists pile up
On the desks in Whitehall.
Reneging on conviction with glib explanations, they
Eventually take twenty years to buy an aircraft.
Visceral is the loss of life.
Even when military successes end, political difficulties begin.
Rule Britannia, rule dim-witted.

Nicely expressed,
the title is so solid and powerful within itself as well.
I am praying for a cease in this war and everyone returning home safe and sound.
Sighhhhhhhhhh
Hugs

Tony, this is explosive! I love your sarcasm and I can truly feel the anger
within and between the lines. It's kind of sad that we give so much power
and credence to those who maybe don't deserve it. Politics is a nasty
business full of those who would play with people's lives for a living.
And I'm not just talking about war. And all the bureaucratic red tape
makes me ill. One day they are going to choke on it and it will mean the
END of the world.
Thank you for this. It's a wonderfully profound and provocative piece.
