Silver floating aimlessly across a periwinkle veil
They work together, shielding us from seeing what is far out there
Sitting on a park bench, girl looks up and mutters to herself,
“I can’t wait ‘til the stars come out.”
Everyone is waiting for their chance to see the glitter sky
Impatiently awake until they finally catch Orion’s eye
Lady on the park bench feels the chill but doesn’t run inside,
She’s dreaming of another life.
Lovers in the night, their bodies tangled like a creeping vine
Woman on the bench forgets that staring is not much polite
Red leaves riding nighttime winds brush bare ground then take off again
They’ll try but they won’t reach the stars.
Barrier turns paler blue, opaquely shielding stars from view
A little at a time, until the sun begins the day anew
Green paint wearing on the wood, the park bench still stands where it’s always stood
By itself but never alone.

Well written. Nice the way you have teased at the vastness beyond the veil. |

This is fabulous writing. Well-constructed metaphors adorned with a certain panache and beauty. Superb!
