The Lake
The sun would shine,
across the shore.
Her looks: divine,
mine to adore.
We walked the beach,
sand through our toes.
Best to lay here,
in wet clothes.
The golden rays,
the water clear.
Memories made,
to always revere.
In the eye of the lake,
rests the forgotten quay.
Removed from hindsight,
rest birds of prey.
Hidden between,
their aeries of gold.
Their spider webbing nests,
bear secrets untold.
If the peregrines soar,
and are poised to strike.
With talons like daggers,
and beaks like pikes.
Then they know too much,
about mounting tensions.
As cold as the lake,
were to become intentions.
