While you were yet still a child, your mother thought you forfeitable
You were not so much an Immaculate Conception, in her eyes, anyway
Though you were purity in female form; Though you were purity yet worn
But now you're just like your namesake, your womb enlarged and round
Like the holy Mother of God, only this wasn't from divine intervention
Fooling around on subtle flings; fooling around does crazy things
You were given the Virgin's name when you, in a home, were placed
At that time, you didn't lose God, you didn't eschew His angels and saints
You emerged from the womb of regeneration; you had received your Confirmation
But that was then, and this is now— not so much the good Catholic girl
The final time you were in church, you shirked the holy water font
You found a guy under your sheet; you found a guy, you didn't meet
He planted a seed, and unbeknownst to you, started tending
Miraculous, it may not be by our standards; but a lily nonetheless
A flower from the Empyrean realm; yet you remain a ship without a helm
So you gave a flower over to be pruned with the shears of choice
Only not so much pruned, but crushed under the wheels of free will
That lily was growing in your womb; that lily was growing in a tomb
You sought an Antichrist wielding pristine and sterile twin-blades
To snip away at the all-despised lily which you yourself had planted
And he put you under, and he tore your lily asunder
Its petals tattered, its foliole shredded, its neck snapped
In an instant, all that it could have been was gone forever
Mary, so apt a name; Mary, you thought it was a game
A game it was not, and a God you were not without
But you yielded to the monster with baneful scythes
You gave up a blameless lamb; but he, Mary, just didn't give a damn
