I Am Superman
I feel tired and I feel old, but I don't let you see
I get sick and I get cold, but I know that you need me
I look in your eyes, my little child, and through your eyes I see
In your eyes I am Superman, so that's who I must be
I've been down, kicked around, I'm scared and I do cry
I feel pain, the wind and rain, but on and on I fly
So you sleep tight in my arms tonight, I am the man of steel
In your eyes I am Superman, so that's who I must be
I'm sad, I bleed, courage I need.......so yellow, red and blue
Look in the sky, you'll see me fly, I'll be there for you
When I am here, you have no fear, you can depend on me
In your eyes I am Superman, so that's who I must be
I must be strong, fight right from wrong, and stand for what is true
So child don't cry, look you can fly, I am holding you
You seem so sure, so safe and secure, the way you cling to me
In your eyes I am Superman, so that's who I must be

Yes! Our children look at us like we are superman or superwoman in their early years. One day, too soon, they will find out we are fallible. Then we have to show them that our love for them can give them comfort and can keep them safe.
Thanks for your poem. |
