Forgiveness on a hill...

Contributed by Ettienne on Wednesday, 9th September 2009 @ 06:24:00 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

I’ve seen a million faces, been to places lost at sea
Never thought I’d be here, at the place of mercy and plea
My life has been horrendous; I could not take it anymore
The lies and the destruction brought me back to mercy’s plea

So father as I lie here in the mud and in the dirt
Surrounded by the faces of destruction and decree
I beg for your forgiveness, because I left you high and dry
I know that I’m a sinner in search of forgiveness and the truth

He laid his hands upon me, and whispered softly
The one that you’ve been searching offers forgiveness and, it’s free
My eyes began to water, as I pleaded for the truth
How can you forgive me when I broke your heart in two?

My son I’ve seen you’re searching and I know your heart is true
The time has come for you, to let go of all the fools
I am the truth and life, I will never leave you, let you go
But you must make a stand against the lies and the deceit

I pleaded for his mercy; he gave forgiveness on a hill
My sins he took upon him, it broke my heart to feel his pain
As I ask for your forgiveness, will you please Lord Set me free
He said it’s done and dusted, I’ve paid in full on a hill

His words were soft and tender
I felt his mercy in my soul
Now will you accept my offer?
It's forgiveness, and it's free…
