Memories of You

“Time is a healer” they say,
It takes away the pain
Much like how sunshine
Evaporates the rain.
So, why is there an aching
Deep within my chest?
Why do tears still well up
Years after you were laid to rest?
For some, they can forget
And let those memories fade away;
For others they still linger,
It’s like you died just yesterday.
Sometimes I get reminded
Of what you used to say or do;
Perhaps a familiar song
Pricks a warm memory anew.
No photograph is needed
As your image lives in my heart;
A friend is not forgotten,
Friends stay, they cannot depart.

A truly beautiful rendition of everlasting. There was a deep sadness when
I first began to read, but you ended this with a light. And it is truly stunning.
Remembrance can be bittersweet, but your words are very wise.
Beautiful work and a wonderful post.

This is a deeply poignant work, subtle imagery that draws the reader into your emotional milieu. You paint an intensely palpable picture of your inner feelings and thoughts. My heart goes out to you while reading this piece immersed in suffering with a stroke of light and release in the end.
Hugs,
Jenni |
