A Failed Promise

Love, how such a foolish thing
Can ever come to be.
Above the logic of our time,
just looking down at me.
How can such severed thoughts desire
To lay upon our world
Despite experience and time
they never come unfurled.
Such a promise never kept,
is painful from the start,
the very thought that love exists
is enough to break the heart.

I think you are mistaken the thought that love exists shouldnt break the heart cause the heart must learn to let go of that hurtful unkept promises........love doesnt hurt

the tragedy of the romantic cynic - ah, me, I'm there too. Well written, the hard rhyme scheme softened somewhat by the well structured interlinking sentences. Technical and metre 5/5. On the Sigh scale? just keeps going.
